Getting the Job Done

Yesterday, I went to "the shop" but instead of working immediately on race car stuff, I had to do some things to the mini van. My towing vehicle had a rough few days. The instument panel went crazy. No PRM, speed, gears, fuel gauge seemed stuck in 1/2 a tank... A/C was not cooling, and the brakes went kaput! That is the first thing I fixed, the A/C. Here in Miami, lack of cool air in the car can be exhausting.

Then I checked all fuses for the cause of the mini van malfunctioning instrument panel but everything seemed fine. Then I thought that the problem was some electrical glitch. So, I disconnected the battery as soon as I got to the shop and started working on the brakes. Once the new brake pads were installed, I re-connected the battery, and "voila!",  the instument panel came back to life.

I have no idea what caused the problem, but it has been working fine since then.

Next thing I wanted to do was work in the axles of the race car. Time to re-build the CV boots. I bought a "Bandit" tool to tighten the boot straps ($20) at NAPA. I greased the first corner and installed it without major problems. Now I can fix CV axles, I know how! The only thing I really hate about it, is working with that grease. It i the nastiest sticky grease you can touch.

Now all I need is the new motor mounts and brackets, which I should receive during this upcoming week, and I can start working on putting the actual engine in the car.

More stuff soon...
